Anzio harbour, a historic port on the Roman coast
Anzio is one of the oldest port towns in Lazio: ancient Antium, birthplace of Nero, already had a harbour in Roman times, built by the emperor himself. The present harbour, known as Porto Innocenziano, dates back to works ordered by Pope Innocent XII at the end of the 17th century.
Today the port welcomes pleasure craft, fishing boats and the departures for Ponza, with seasonal ferry and hydrofoil services. The new marina is run under concession by Capo d'Anzio S.p.A.; from the gulf the Pontine Islands are easy to reach.
With Abayachting, Anzio is also a point of reference for anyone looking to sell their yacht or buy a used sailing or motor boat on the coast south of Rome.
