Porto Ercole and the Marina dei Presidi

Porto Ercole is a fishing village nestled in a bay overlooked by 16th-century fortresses, built under the Spanish State of the Presidi: the Rocca Spagnola, Forte Filippo and Forte Stella. The painter Caravaggio died here in 1610, and a monument in the old town recalls it.

Marina dei Presidi, on the Lungomare Andrea Doria, has around a hundred berths and a VHF channel 74 staffed 24 hours a day. The Duna Feniglia nature reserve is a few kilometres away. Information and bookings are on the Marina dei Presidi website.
